Public parking for these events will be available in the visitors' section of the university's parking lot at 715 Grand Ave.
The start time of the events, 8:46 a.m., is symbolic, as it was when the first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, struck the World Trade Center's North Tower on that fateful day in 2001. Hackettstown American Legion Post 164 will start the day with a remembrance ceremony and presentation of the colors on Centenary University's front lawn. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the quad on the Centenary University campus, members of the public are invited to view the "One Day Memorial" created by Centenary students, faculty and staff, with memorial signs and flags or cards created for Hackettstown's first responders. In case of rain, the One Day Memorial will be held in Alumni Alley, located in the Lackland Center. The events for the day will wind down at 3 p.m. with a candlelight vigil conducted by the university's chaplain, Tim Nicinski, in the Seay Building on campus.
